There are several existing trails taking you to beautiful little spots and panorama’s in Andalucía.
El Caminito del Rey
El Caminito del Rey is also known as the most dangerous path in the world and was officially closed for more than 10 years.
The Caminito del Rey is just 45 minutes from our Bed and Breakfast. When you are guest of Bed & Breakfast Casa don Carlos or Villa Alegria we can take care of the tickets and they will be available upon arrival.
Torcal de Antequera
One of the best is the trail in Torcal de Antequera national park. It is a simple trail of 2 ½ kilometres clearly marked by green sticks. The best time of year for this walk is from spring till autumn. March, April and May are the top months, because then nature will be at its best. During spring, the lichen and moss- covered stones turn into a natural colour that perfectly suits the scenery. You can find rambling ivy, a horse shoe snake relaxing in the sun, a brownish grass snake and eleven other reptiles. The impressive karst landscape is the home of 116 different species. There are 22 mammals and 83 species of birds. There is also a visitors centre and an incredible panorama: the Mirador de la Ventanilla, with spectacular views. The park is located between Antequera and Malaga and can be easily reached by the c3310. Try to avoid going on Sunday afternoons, because of the hustle and bustle around the cafés and bars along the road. From Bed & Breakfast Casa Don Carlos it is a 60 km drive to Antequera. It is a beautiful route for a lovely morning in the breath-taking Andalusian nature.
Sierra Blanca
Closer to our Bed & Breakfast are also many trails to choose from, such as in the Sierra Blanca on the way to Marbella, or the Sierra de Mijas. We have several maps to choose from so you can just pick one of the trails nearby. In September we have, for instance, walked the ‘Sendero Rio de la Miel’ in the area of Algeciras close to Los Barrios. It is a beautiful trail along rocks, waterfalls and greenery. The trail slowly goes up, higher into the mountains. The further you go, the bigger the waterfalls will be. This trail will take the whole day, especially if you take a dip in all the natural pools and bring a full picnic basket.
